Community InvolvementSciComm has a strong commitment to the community. SciComm employees, with the support of SciComm, are volunteers for several communities activities. Highlights of these activities are as follows: Montgomery County Hazardous Household Pickup ProgramSciComm staff members serve as volunteers to the Montgomery County Hazardous Household Pickup Program. Through this program, Montgomery County controls the disposal of hazardous household material, such as oil-based paint, lead batteries, and hazardous automobile fluids. NIH Children's InnSciComm staff members make a voluntary annual donation to the NIH Children's Inn. The total staff contribution is then matched by SciComm, dollar-for-dollar. Through this program, NIH provides a family-type environment to children with unusual diseases. Shady Grove Adventist HospitalEmployee participation in its Golf and Tennis Classic has helped expand the hospital's Emergency Department. Proceeds from the event has expanded the department by 50%, allowing medical professionals to treat a greater number of emergencies more efficiently and effectively and also to shorten waiting and treating times for patients. |
